2019 Alberta Election: The Effect of Each Party’s Platform on Alberta’s Carbon Tax, Electricity Sector & Solar Industry

Early Voting for the 2019 Alberta General Election has begun!

Do you know where each party stands in terms of the electricity sector and carbon tax policies? How do their platforms affect Alberta’s solar industry and carbon tax-funded programs?

We hope that this summary of the various platforms can help to spur constructive and respectful conversation on the various policies.

One last note, SkyFire Energy has clients and friends on all sides of the political spectrum and we generally try to avoid partisan discussions! However, with varying policy directions that will have such a significant impact on our business and staff, we are speaking up and sharing what we hope can be useful information for voters to make an informed decision. In many developed markets (ex. Texas), support for solar has become non-partisan with recognition of the economic, environmental and job-creating benefits receiving strong support from both sides of the political spectrum. Think like a Texan and vote for solar this election.
