SkyFire Energy is a firm believer in supporting the community that supports us. For this reason, SkyFire Energy attempts to engage the public in the best way we know how: through education and demonstration at various community events and programs. SkyFire Solar Energy Station:
Early 2009 saw SkyFire introduce its new portable off-grid solar electric system. The trailer is a both a an educational tool and a working power station available free of cost to community organisers. Contact us to find out how SkyFire Energy's Solar Energy Station can power your next event! Annual Mayor's Environment Expo: The Expo is targeted for Kindergarten to Grade 12 students and teachers, with curriculum links in Social Studies, Science and the Arts. Educational, empowering, and engaging, SkyFire attempts to give children a basic understanding of solar electric and hot water heating systems. Our 'solar powered flashlight' (while not entirely practical) is an effective tool for demonstrating to children how electricity can be generated from light. We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future. ~Franklin Delano Roosevelt Annual EcoLiving Fair and Speaker Series EcoLiving Events Ltd. is a non profit organisation dedicated to showcasing sustainable practice and technologies. Their annual fair is an excellent resource for local and innovative ways to reduce your environmental footprint and network within the community. EcoLiving also organizes an annual tour of renewable energy installations and other sustainable practices. SkyFire installations are featured on the tour each year. SkyFire is also actively involved with the provincial government and local municipalities to improve existing legislation and bylaws to better allow for the integration of solar electric and solar water heating systems. We have seen some of these efforts come to bear in the past year with the new grid tied regulations in Alberta, a feed in tariff (FIT) in Ontario, and a municipal solar program in Edmonton. |
